Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton: Unplugged
Where do I begin with this clip where Senator Clinton says, "Shame on you, Barack Obama." Whatever happened to being honored to be on the same debate stage with him just a couple of days ago in Austin, Texas. These mailers have been out for weeks now and she is just now complaining? Not only that, Obama is actually criticizing her on substantive points -- her support for NAFTA, her talk about garnishing wages if it were necessary. Did Senator Clinton not just go after Obama in the Austin debate over his own universal health care proposal? Additionally, this press conference also feels and looks like manufactured outrage. She's got to be kidding when she compares him to Karl Rove. It's her campaign that is being run in part by Mark Penn. Lastly, her comment, "Enough with the big speeches, enough with the big rallies...", makes her sound especially desperate and simply jealous of all that Senator Obama has been able to enjoy on the campaign trail. This really is just sad, considering how positive she ended the last debate. I understand that she is a wonderfully warm individual in person, but tirades like this are one of the reasons that so many voters will not cast their ballots for her in a general election, much less a primary. I guess it was just too much to hope that the Clinton campaign would end the primary season with dignity. If the improbable scenario of her being the Democratic nominee occurs, for me to vote for her over McCain, I am going to have to hold my nose. It makes me sad to see her doing this to herself and to the Democratic party.
